[1038] confuse

I'm a black lost soul waiting to be found. All my life I was color blinded. I want to be black, but I don't know how. I'm told my vocabulary is white-ish. Hanging with (true) black friends, my mannerism is being blackened. The problem. . . . I'm black.. . . I think. I still trying to understand my white/black mentality.

  • Well mama i say you get to the ghetto and fix it. Hang out wit some really ghetto ppl just don't do the jail time they might have done. This is only if you want to change. In reality be you who ever don't like it fuck'em!!!!!!!
  • YOU ARE WHAT YOU ACCEPT YOURSELF TO BE. BUT THERE IS ONE THING YOU CAN NOT BE AND THAT IS BOTH. TO TRY TO BE BOTH BLACK AND WHITE WILL NOT ONLY CONFUSE YOU BUT OTHERS TOO. AS FOR HOW TO RESPOND WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT YOU ARE BLACK, THERE IS NO RESPONSE NEEDED, BECAUSE THEIR WAS NO QUESTIONED ASKED ,THAT WARRANTS A RESPONSE. IN THIS CASE SILENCE IS GOLDEN. IF THEY SHOULD BE SO BOLD AS TO ASK YOU WHAT COLOR YOU ARE, TELL THEM TO TELL YOU WHAT COLOR YOU ARE. BUT KNOW IN YOUR HEART WHAT COLOR YOU ACCEPT YOURSELF TO BE. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY KNOW WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON AND NOT JUST A COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Just be you! Speaking proper doesn't mean that you talk "white"...it just means you're not an idiot. Don't worry about what others might think, just be you and be happy with whomever you are! Being black is pride not attitude.
  • Girl please! I've been told I talk white my whole life and I know who i am. I am a beautiful black queen. Without a speech impediment. LOL. That's the beauty of diversity, even within a race. Black people come in all shapes and sizes, ethnicities, speak different languages, different tones and we don't all speak the same. I'm from California and when I go to ALAbama and visit family down there they think all of us from California talk white. I don't understand a damn thing they say and they talk about my speech. LOL. Look people are goona talk shit. People are gonna hate. Shake em off and live your life.
  • Another thing, if you are mixed (sorry I must've missed that detail) then you are both. I saw one response that said you have to choose one. No you don't! I think that's the problem with a lot of mixed folks today is that they're opting to choose one and shun the other. be proud of who you are. Love you; ALL of you. It's tough and it takes courage. But we women are strong. God gave us so much strength. Use it.
  • Just be yourself. I have been told as well that I talk like white people. Don't worry what others think of you. It will get you nowhere.
